Most people are surprised to learn that there are well over 100 types of medical conditions that are classified as autoimmune related.
Approximately 50 million Americans are affected by autoimmune diseases – almost 17% of the total population, 75% of those are women. Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Celiac disease, and Psoriasis are a few of the more common types of autoimmune conditions.
Conventional medicine states that these types of diseases occur when the body’s immune cells make a “mistake” and end up attacking its own tissue and organs. Autoimmune conditions generally manifest in the body over a relatively longer period of time, often these types of illnesses show up at first with mysterious symptoms that many medical doctors do not have the ability to effectively address with the patient.
There are many patients who experience vague symptoms such as on and off fatigue, achey joints, or skin rashes only to be told that there is not anything medically wrong with them. People on average see 6-8 doctors over a period of 4 years before they get a diagnosis. The diagnosis of an autoimmune condition is truly detective work. Once there is an official diagnosis, it’s unfortunate that our medical system can not offer true relief for many suffering patients.
The current treatments for many autoimmune diseases include the systemic use of anti-inflammatory drugs and potent immuno-suppressive and immunomodulatory agents. Unfortunately, these therapies are unable to induce clinically significant remissions in most patients. I have interacted with and have treated many people with autoimmune diseases who have felt hopeless with trying to resolve their condition by going on the medications that their Rheumatologist has prescribed.
Countless times before, I have heard many autoimmune sufferers that do not have any symptom relief by getting treatment by their medical doctor. I am confident that holistic and integrative medical treatments are the most appropriate course of action for most autoimmune sufferers to start feeling better and ultimately heal their condition. Remember, your symptoms are warning signs that something isn’t right. The beautiful thing is that you can become empowered to get better !
So what causes Autoimmune disease anyway and how can I HEAL?
Many health professionals believe that genetic mutations are a primary cause. Environmental toxins and hidden viral infections can be risk factors as well. I am reading more and more studies and information that Epstein Barr virus (EBV) can be a potential underlying cause of an autoimmune response in the body. I believe environmental toxins to play a major role here as well. We are exposed to astronomical amounts of harmful chemicals every single day that is lurking in our food, water, work environments, and our homes.
Our bodies simply can not handle such a chemical overload.
You can heal or at least drastically improve your symptoms holistically over time. Remember that in many cases, it takes TIME, DEDICATION, and EDUCATION to heal. It is important that you educate yourself and seek out a team of healers and holistic practitioners that specialize and have experience in treating your condition. It’s very likely you will have to drastically change your diet, up level certain aspects of your lifestyle, and start to engage in nourishing activities of Self-Love.
Start to have the awareness and major emphasis regarding the importance of fueling the body with therapeutic foods! Proper nutrition and treating deficiencies is absolutely imperative in your journey to becoming symptom-free. Most of the time, diet and nutrition should be the first shifts in your lifestyle. FYI, most if not all autoimmune patients are Vitamin D Deficient, along with the likelihood of many other nutritional deficiencies being the case as well. Our physiology truly relies on proper fuel!
Address and Resolve Underlying Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Blockages:
It is well known that negative mind sets and unresolved emotional trauma can cause and perpetuate disease states in the body. There are a number of ways in which we can transform our emotional self including; the many forms of meditation techniques and traditions, chanting specific healing mantras, expressing gratitude daily, receiving regular Reiki treatments, and seek authentic spiritual healers to assist you to remove energetic blockages that are hindering your journey to becoming symptom free.
I happen to be well acquainted with many absolutely AMAZING spiritual and energy healers. I have witnessed first hand with myself and many people in my life the importance of having daily rituals to clear and blockages within ourselves on the level of our Soul and Energetic Field. When we begin to work on these facets of our being, we then start to transition into a state of self-love and feel the oneness between all of humanity. Authentic Self-Love is a major key to health and wellness.
Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine:
There has been much success with treating a variety of autoimmune conditions with acupuncture and eastern medicine. These techniques have been around for 5,000+ years and have shown great effectiveness and success rates with many different conditions. Herbs and botanical therapies have a great capacity to address many underlying immune dysfunctions.
Stem Cell Therapy:
I am absolutely fascinated with this relatively new form of medicine that has a great potential of being a miracle cure for literally so many people! However, while there is still so much we don’t know in regards to what types of conditions respond significantly to Stem Cells Treatments, this is something to potentially look into. There is currently a lot of research being conducted in this field and I am looking forward to following up on this in the future. I have personal experience with the incredible clinicians at the Stem Cell Institute located in Panama City. I know they are doing incredible work down there and saving lives. Hydration with clean filtered H20, proper sleep, regular meals, maintaining a harmonious work-life balance, exercise/movement routines, and engaging in healthy relationships are extremely important aspects to our well-being. Especially while overcoming autoimmunity, these aspects needs to be fine tuned. Decreasing our exposure to harmful endocrine disrupting chemicals in the environment is imperative as well. Taking a close look at personal care products, cosmetics, household cleaning products, and even food storage containers is important for an extra sensitive immune system.
If you are suffering from an autoimmune disease, I want to instill hope and optimism within you that you have a significant possibility to GET BETTER!
Wishing you the courage and sending you so much LOVE,
